About Me

Welcome! Can I get you anything? Coffee? Wine? Stale Cheerios?

I’m M.J. (Manda) Pullen: writer, mom of two, and domestically-challenged wife in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, Jew-by-choice and office supply addict. Not necessarily in that order. I’ve been writing my whole life, ever since one of my first poems was ‘published’ in the Due West Elementary School literary magazine in second grade. It was about a fire drill.

Before I started writing books for public consumption, I worked as a professional counselor in private practice and doing consulting work for businesses. I also spent years in marketing and resource development (fundraising) for both corporations and non-profit organizations. Come to think of it, I’ve worked just about every job known to woman, and I have a good bit of experience as an entrepreneur, too. I have an English degree from the University of Georgia — Go Dawgs! —  and Master’s degrees in business and counseling psychology. Some people would call my background unfocused; I like to call it ‘novel fodder.’

I love interacting with fans and other writers, and helping authors navigate the ups and downs of self-publishing with humor and some modicum of sanity. So please follow the blog and see what’s coming next…

When I’m not blogging, tweeting (@MJPullen), Facebooking, or — oh, yeah — writing, I’m generally chasing my two little boys or trying to get yogurt off of something. Also, I still do some consulting work. So if you contact me and it takes me a minute to get back to you, don’t be offended!

In the meantime, if you’re really bored, you can read my personal blog here.
